Kharek ki kheer (Dried dates pudding)

A 2 qt. stainless steel saucepan and a table spoon

• 7 oz. dried dates(kharek)
•12 oz. organic whole milk

Serves:  2


  1. Chop the dried dates.
  2. In the saucepan put milk and add the chopped dried dates.
  3. Bring it to a boil on medium heat.
  4. Simmer and cook for 3 to 6 minutes stirring vigilantly.
  5. Remove from the stove.
  6. Let it cool.
  7. Serve it cold.


The dried dates can be bought from any Indian grocery store, mine were Laxmi brand.  The recipe calls for organic whole milk, mine was trader Joe’s. The quantity in the above recipe can be doubled in order to serve 4 people. The above picture serves four with double the amount of ingredients. Enjoy!
